Palouse Shawl – Knit Pattern

$6.00

There’s nothing in the world quite like Palouse country — that gorgeous geographical anomaly that makes up the rolling hills of eastern Washington State.

The Palouse Shawl’s fabric, in the way that it drapes and gathers, evokes the undulating folds of the Palouse region’s iconic topography. The garter stitch section brings to mind cultivated fields, and the shawl eventually blossoms into full lace reminiscent of wheat just before the harvest, golden and glowing in the late summer light. Sample uses 200g of Aspen

Asymmetrical shaping and simple botanical lace combine to create an elegant wrap with a dash of modern flair. While engaging enough for more experienced knitters, its simplicity makes Palouse a wonderful first lace project.

Yarn:  200g/440yds of Tempestry Worsted, shown in Aspen

Needles  and Notions: US 6/4mm 24” or longer circular needles (or size to get gauge), stitch markers

Gauge: Approximately 16 stitches = 4” in garter stitch after blocking

Finished Measurement: After blocking, the shawl measures approximately 54” across the top and  27” deep.
