Introducing Emotion Tempestry Kits
Kiddo & Emotion Tempestry, Summer 2020.
We started knitting the first Emotion Tempestry with the kiddo earlier this summer to record her daily moods in a non-judgmental and comfortable way during this globally stressful time. Ending each day with a quick recap of what color it felt like has become a surprisingly sweet part of our bedtime rituals. On the occasions when we forget for a couple days (and this happens more than we’d like as these months of semi-quarantine drag on), it’s become an exercise in sifting through the previous days’ events to unearth the kernel of emotion running through them.
We posted a photo of the kiddo and her Emotion Tempestry in the Tempestry FB group last month, and were so delighted with the positive response that we decided to roll out kits in time for the upcoming school year. We’ve always known crafting can be therapeutic, and are hopeful that this project can contribute to mental health awareness for kiddos (and the rest of us!).
After playing around with colors and beads, and talking to a child psychologist friend (thank you, Dr. Jill!), we are pleased to introduce our brand new Emotion Tempestry Starter Kits! We have two options for you:

2. Pre-order for winter shipping using the new Tempestry yarn
This has been a lovely family project this summer, and we look forward to both continuing it into the future and looking back on it as a family record down the road. We hope that you and your knitters, crocheters, not-yet-knitters-or-crocheters, and others will find this as creative and meaningful a process as we have.
Emotion Tempestry Starter Kits include 6 yarn colors to represent different moods and 6 bead colors to mark events within a row/day. For example, an overall green/calm day might get a red/angry bead to mark an argument, or a yellow/happy bead to mark a friend’s visit.
Kits come with a small pocket notebook to track days, colors, and events, and enough yarn for approximately 3-4 months. Please note that because every Emopestry will be different from person to person, you will run out of some colors before others. We will soon be offering individual yarn and bead colors to supplement your project as needed.
